Genetic Resources Issue 2

The second issue of the ECPGR managed journal Genetic Resources is now published

The second issue of the new journal ‘Genetic Resources’ was published on 30 December 2020. It is available at the journal website www.genresj.org and at https://doi.org/10.46265/genresj.2020.2.

Issue 2 contains contributions from plant, animal and forest genetic resources domains, establishing itself as a truly crosscutting medium providing information for stakeholders in the different fields.

Three articles on animal genetic resources provide characterization data for indigenous sheep populations in Ethiopia (https://www.genresj.org/index.php/grj/article/view/genresj.SHBD3744), description of immune responses to Newcastle disease in indigenous chicken in Rwanda (https://www.genresj.org/index.php/grj/article/view/genresj.LPJS9396) and molecular markers to evaluate introgression of feral pigs into wild boar populations in Japan (https://www.genresj.org/index.php/grj/article/view/genresj.BNHB8715).

One article describes characterization data for tomato accessions in Nigeria, providing base data for tomato breeding for varieties suitable for rainforest conditions (https://www.genresj.org/index.php/grj/article/view/genresj.BJCV8100).

One article describes a set of useful markers for the breeding of the widely used tropical tree species Gmelina arborea (https://www.genresj.org/index.php/grj/article/view/genresj.LLTJ1737).

Finally, one article summarized decades of work at the CIAT genebank, providing a review of the tropical forages collection safeguarded there (https://www.genresj.org/index.php/grj/article/view/genresj.KZEW5023).

Genetic Resources is a new journal managed by the ECPGR Secretariat providing a platform for diverse stakeholders and practitioners in genetic resources to publish and share their research.
